Between Sea & Sky
This exhibition marks the 11th year that the group of women artists, known as the 21 IN TRURO will be showing their work after the week long retreat in Truro. As the title suggests the works will not necessarily be specifically of Truro, but of the many places these artists paint throughout the year; though all have a fondness for and find inspiration from the outer Cape, it’s light, changing moods, the ocean, the marshes, the tides and wind.
The natural landscape, still to be found and the changes that man has placed, the boats, dwellings, roads, foot paths and signs, these are often found and captured within the paintings.
Some of the artists work in a highly realistic style, others towards a sense of place, a part of being, the abstract. The week in Truro is a week of refreshing creative ideas, sharing information and rejuvenating artistic souls.

America the Beautiful
Cahoon Museum of American Art, Cotuit, MA
Nov. 16 - Dec. 31, 2010
It was in 1910 that the beloved patriotic anthem “America the Beautiful” was first published, setting the words of a poem by Falmouth native Katharine Lee Bates to music by Samuel A. Ward. Eleven Cape artists and eleven Cape weavers are observing the song’s centennial by pairing up to interpret such lyrics as “purple mountain majesties” and “from sea to shining sea.” Some painters will interpret a weaving; some weavers will interpret a painting. In other cases, they’ll draw from the same imagery simultaneously.
